What to watch for
If you are comparing duct cleaning companies, video tells you more than a price does. Three things worth looking for in anyone's footage:
- Where the vacuum is. A hose running out to a truck or trailer means a truck-mounted collection unit. A machine sitting in the hallway is a portable, and it cannot hold negative pressure across a whole duct system.
- Whether every run is worked. Source removal means each supply and return is individually agitated, not a vacuum held at a few registers.
- Whether the equipment gets opened. The blower wheel, coil and plenums hold more material than the branch runs. If the air handler is never opened on camera, it was not cleaned.
